Frank Whittle (Service Number-26074) joined Cranwell on the 2nd September 1926 along with 35 other aspiring aviators.
He was number number 387 in the sequence of cadets and so was very much an early Cranwellian.
He graduated on the 27th July 1928 as second in the order of merit and was awarded the Abdy Gerrard Fellowes Memorial Prize for Aeronautical Studies.
